We only
care about
three things
El Trapella is a small restaurant in Poblenou where everything revolves around three very simple ideas: the neighbourhood that raised us, the produce we look after every day, and the welcome we want to give you the moment you walk through the door.
The neighbourhood, first
A small corner on Carrer de Pujades, a 10-minute walk from the beach. A proper neighbourhood restaurant of the old school, where the owner waits the tables and remembers your face the next time you come back.
· Poblenou, Barcelona ·The produce, always
Homemade Mediterranean cooking with a creative twist. Small plates designed to share, and produce we'd happily eat ourselves: if it isn't good enough for us, it doesn't leave the kitchen.
· Homemade · Shared · No shortcuts ·The soul, as ever
Good vibes, tables made for sharing and conversation that flows on its own. Nobody rushes you here, and there's always a wine we can recommend. The kind of place you come back to because it feels like home.
· Warm · Family-run · Authentic ·ordered
Beef cheek
croissant
Beef cheek slow-cooked in red wine for hours, until it falls apart on its own. We tuck it into a freshly baked artisan croissant and finish it with a truffled brie cream that changes everything. Sweet, savoury, crisp and tender all at once. One bite and you understand why people keep coming back.
The restaurant's signature dish. It really is about time you tried it.
Made for sharing,
always.
Homemade Mediterranean cooking with a creative twist. Small plates to share, cooked slowly and served the way we'd want them served to us. Here's a taste of our favourites.
Beef cheek croissant with truffled brie cream
Beef cheek slow-cooked in red wine, tucked into a freshly baked artisan croissant and finished with truffled brie cream. Sweet, savoury, crisp and tender. The dish people keep coming back for.
Fuet tartare on brioche
Fuet (Catalan cured sausage) chopped to order on warm artisan brioche. A bite full of who we are.
Burrata with roasted leek and mortadella
Creamy burrata over slow-roasted leek, finished with thinly sliced Bologna mortadella. Subtle, sweet and very moreish.
Tuna tartare in citrus ponzu
Tuna loin cut to order and dressed in citrus ponzu. Fresh, briny and with a subtle Asian touch.
Truffled pularda cannelloni
Pularda (fattened hen) slow-braised for hours with a touch of truffle, wrapped in fresh pasta and finished with a mushroom sauce that ties it all together. A classic that never misses.
Bun'n'Roll pulled pork with romesco
Pulled pork coated in homemade romesco sauce, in a soft, golden artisan bun. Made for sinking your teeth in without a second thought.
Garlic prawns with low-temperature egg
Prawns in golden garlic oil, topped with a low-temperature egg that breaks and brings it all together. Made for endless bread dipping.
Crispy ravioli with Iberian pork and acorn-fed ham
Baked filo parcels filled with Iberian secreto pork and acorn-fed ham, over a Port sauce base. Topped with Port-caramelised onion, ham shavings and a shower of Grana Padano.
There's so much more on the full menu. Come and discover it with us.

I have a new favourite spot in Barcelona. The flavour of the food really stands out. The beef cheek croissant and the truffled cannelloni are next level. Spectacular!
On the foodThe service is outstanding and the owner himself looks after you. Really friendly and helpful throughout, recommending what to order and what to skip. Great atmosphere.
On the serviceA hidden gem in the heart of Poblenou. Easy to walk past from outside, but so worth discovering. Cosy atmosphere and full of charm.
On the atmosphereI LOVED this location. An authentic experience from local owners. Kind, talkative, warm and welcoming. I visited it every night ever since I discovered it.

Coming in to
celebrate something?
Let's talk. Every group is different and we like to tailor things to you. We love our small plates to share, and for groups we put together a set menu that we choose with you depending on the occasion.
Your questions,
answered.
The answers to what we get asked most on WhatsApp, Google and right at the restaurant door. If yours isn't here, drop us a message and we'll add it.
01
Do I need to book a table in advance?
Yes, we always recommend booking. El Trapella is a small, cosy spot, so we tend to fill up, especially at weekends and Thursday to Saturday evenings.
You can book online via Google Reserve, call us on +34 626 72 84 92 or message us on WhatsApp. We reply in under 30 minutes.
02
What's your most recommended dish?
Our signature dish is the beef cheek croissant with truffled brie cream (€16.50). Beef cheek slow-cooked in red wine for hours, inside an artisan croissant. It's the dish most people come back for.
Other favourites are the truffled pularda cannelloni with mushroom sauce, the fuet tartare on brioche, the crispy ravioli with Iberian pork and acorn-fed ham and, for dessert, the Camembert cheesecake. We recommend ordering 2-3 small plates per person to share.
03
Do you have vegetarian or gluten-free options?
Yes, we have vegetarian options on the menu: artichoke tartare, miso aubergine, scrambled eggs with mushrooms, pan amb tomàquet, ricotta with grapes, among others.
On gluten: we have options suitable for people with a mild gluten intolerance, but we are not suitable for coeliacs. Our kitchen is very small and we can't guarantee the absence of cross-contamination. If you have coeliac disease, it's best to look for certified gluten-free venues.
04
What's the average price per person?
The average spend is €25-30 per person, including food and drink. We work with small plates to share and recommend ordering 2-3 plates per guest.
05
Where can I park near the restaurant?
We're at Carrer de Pujades, 207 Bis, right in Poblenou. There's paid street parking (blue and green zones) and several car parks within a 5-minute walk.
We recommend coming by metro (L4 Poblenou), bus (H16, 26, 36) or Bicing — it's much easier and there are stations just a few metres away.
06
What days are you open and closed?
We're open Monday to Sunday. The hours are:
Lunch: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. We close at lunchtime on Wednesdays.
Dinner: every day from 7:30 pm to 12:00 am.
On local public holidays hours may vary, so we recommend confirming by phone or on Google.
07
Do you take large groups or celebrations?
Yes, we take groups for celebrations. Tables of 8 or more require a booking with a set menu agreed in advance, as the restaurant is very small and the kitchen even smaller.
Every group is different and has its own booking conditions, so message us on WhatsApp in good time (the earlier the better) and we'll sort it out. We take up to 12 people maximum.
08
Do you have a terrace or only indoor seating?
Yes, we have a terrace available all year round, for both lunch and dinner. It's not heated, so it's weather-dependent.
The terrace is very small and can't be booked. It's assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If there's space free when you arrive, we'll do our best to seat you outside.
09
Do you offer takeaway or delivery?
No, we don't offer takeaway or delivery. Our small plates are meant to be enjoyed freshly made, at the table, shared at a relaxed pace.
For the full experience, we'll be waiting for you at the restaurant. Book a table via Google or WhatsApp.
10
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and mobile payment via NFC (Apple Pay, Google Pay).
If you need a VAT invoice for your company, just ask when you pay and we'll prepare it, no problem.
Here you don't
just eat: you stay.
El Trapella was born from the wish to have a place where people would linger. Where the after-meal chat lasts as long as it needs to. Where the plates are made for sharing and so are the conversations.
If you drop by, there's no rush. Order without fear, raise a glass for no reason, come back whenever you like. There's always room for one more here.
